The 2nd graders are participating in an international science project in coordination with Journey North. We connect with hundreds of schools around the world. Late fall we started to plant our Red Emperor Tulip bulbs and this spring we'll share our findings and track spring's progress with other participating schools via interactive maps on Journey North site. Watch the arrival of spring as we compare observations with our Global Garden Partners.03/20/2009

We are so delighted to see our Tulip Garden in full bloom! The kids had a blast seeing the beautiful colors of Tulips. We welcome spring with a big California bear hug! Thanks for the wonderful experience!
Event Tulips PLANTED Date of Sighting 12/04/08 Comments We actually went gardening for a couple of days:weeding, clearing, digging, and planting the bulbs. The second graders had a blast finding the worms and other things in the soil. Armed with their rulers, they made sure they dig about 7 inches deep before planting the bulbs. One of the parents built picket fences for our Tulip Garden. The kids take turns watering the garden. This is such a great learning experience for the kids! We just can't wait for the Tulips to bloom!
